Newborn
The Newborn days.
Time is irrelevant. Days blur together.
Life is suddenly different and wonderful all at the same time.
You want to be present. To soak it all in.
The newborn scrunch, how they melt into you, and their tiny toes and fingers.
These days are short but so deeply meaningful. Your baby is changing right in front of you, even when the days themselves seem to stand still.
And it is all worth remembering.
Your Newborn Session
Your baby doesn't need to sleep through the session or do anything on command. My newborn sessions are baby-led, which means we'll follow their cues throughout our time together. Baby will be held and photographed in ways that feel natural and comfortable, with plenty of time for feeding, soothing, or taking a break whenever needed.
Best photographed within baby's first two weeks
Studio or in-home* sessions are most common
Outdoor sessions are possible depending on the seasonImmediate family is always welcome to partake in the session
Newborn basket, swaddles, and blankets are available to use during the session
*Travel within 25 miles of Webster, NY is included. Sessions outside this area may incur a travel fee of $1/mile.

FAQs
-
For in-home newborn sessions, I commonly use 1-2 of the following spaces:
Nursery
Primary bedroom
Living room
When I arrive you can show me each space and let me know your preferences.

Keep it simple.
Baby: diaper or a simple, well-fitted onesie.
Mom: choose something comfortable that makes you feel like yourself.
Everyone else: coordinate around Mom's outfit, your session location, and the season.

That’s okay! Your baby doesn’t need to sleep for their newborn session. We’ll follow their lead throughout our time together. If baby is happy and comfortable awake, we’ll photograph them awake. If they need to be fed, soothed, changed, or snuggled, we’ll take care of that first and continue when they’re ready. There’s always time to pause as needed to keep baby comfortable and content.
-
Then we’ll pause and let baby eat! Feeding breaks are completely expected during newborn sessions. Once baby is finished, comfortable, and content, we’ll continue whenever they’re ready.
-
Sometimes bigger siblings cooperate, and sometimes they don’t. I won’t force a child to participate if they’re having a hard time. Instead, I’ll continue to gently encourage them and give them space. Usually, their curiosity is eventually piqued, and when that happens, we’ll take advantage of the opportunity.
I have plenty of strategies for encouraging siblings to participate, so let me worry about that. Your job is simply to stay calm, enjoy your family, and let me take care of the rest.

I recommend booking a date during your second or third trimester. Ideally your session would be scheduled within 10 days of baby’s birth.
Your newborn session date is not set in stone and we will be able to adjust it if needed.
And if you didn’t book a session before baby arrived, that’s okay! Reach out as soon as you’re ready.
