What Should I Do With My Gallery From My Photoshoot?
Your photos aren’t meant to live on a screen. They’re meant to be held, seen, and cherished—after all, that’s why you made the investment in the first place. Let’s get those images off your screen and into your home!
Prints
I love a house that feels like a home, and photos are one of the easiest ways to create that feeling. In my own home, I have a photo ledge in my living room where I display our yearly family photos. All year long, I get to smile every time I walk by and remember the laughter and the joy from our session.
My favorite way to order prints is with matted prints from Miller’s Professional Imaging—the same professional lab used when you order products directly through your gallery with Jess Palmer Photography. Miller’s prints have a standard archival value of 100 years in home display, which means the images you print now will look just as beautiful decades from today.
The print quality truly isn’t all created equal. Matted prints from Miller’s pop easily into frames or can be stored in a print box, making them both stunning and simple to display.
Albums
Creating an album from your gallery is a wonderful option if you want to enjoy all of your images without picking just a few favorites. Every year, I create a photo album for each of my daughters’ birthdays, and it’s such a gift to pull them off the shelf and look back at our lives. Sometimes we travel back five years and sometimes we just go back a year. Either way we all smile from ear-to-ear recalling all the memories from that year.
And I’ll be honest: sometimes making albums can feel a little overwhelming. If you feel that way too, please reach out! I’m more than happy to design an album for you if you don’t have the time. I use Miller’s for albums as well, and they are gorgeous—worth every bit of the investment. They also offer many options, from accordion mini albums to their highly customizable Signature Album.
Wall Calendars
A wall calendar is another fun way to enjoy multiple photos from your gallery, or even multiple galleries. Each month you get to flip the page and revisit another beautiful moment.
A few years ago, I made my grandma a calendar of all her grandkids and great-grandkids, and it was a huge hit. Every time I visited, I’d see the new month’s photo hanging on her wall and smile, remembering the moment it captured.
Cards
Holiday cards, graduation announcements, baby announcements—your gallery is perfect for all of them. Your loved ones genuinely cherish receiving these milestones from you, and I bet a few of them display your cards all year long until the next one arrives. What a sweet way for your family to be celebrated!
Ordering These Products & More!
So… does it matter where you order these products?
Yes—and no.
What it comes down to is your intention for the item.
If you want a product that will be beautiful and stand the test of time, you’ll want to order through a professional lab like Miller’s Professional Imaging. Miller’s serves professional photographers, which means clients can only access their products through your gallery from Jess Palmer Photography or by working with me directly to order.
Another great option is Miller’s sister company, Mpix. Mpix is designed for consumers and offers high-quality printing and products you can order on your own. I’ve ordered from Mpix many times and have always loved the results.
And of course, you can always download your gallery and print at any quick-service lab of your choosing. These products won’t last the way professional prints do, but they’re typically more budget-friendly. Have I used these labs? Absolutely! Sometimes you need something last-minute, and being able to order and pick up within 20 minutes is incredibly tempting. Do I prefer them? Not really—once you see the difference in professional lab quality, you probably won’t want to go back either.
A Final Thought
Your photos tell the story of your family right now. However you choose to display them, I hope they bring joy to your home and remind you of the moments that matter most. And if you want help turning your gallery into something you can hold, flip through, or display proudly, I’m always here.
